The vision is to break the dominance of a few large platforms and bring equal opportunity to all players in the digital marketplace.
Government Backing
ONDC is a Government of India initiative, launched under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to foster innovation, transparency, and inclusion in the e-commerce space. This strategic backing ensures credibility and long-term commitment to building a robust and equitable digital commerce infrastructure across the country.
Our Commitment
Our mission is to drive awareness, adoption, and participation in the ONDC network, especially among:
- MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises)
- Local and regional businesses
- Traditional retailers and artisans
By providing guidance, training, and handholding support, we aim to empower these businesses to leverage digital commerce and compete effectively in an increasingly digital economy.
Network Model Advantages
ONDC operates on an open network model, which brings several unique benefits to buyers and sellers:
- Interoperability: Businesses can operate across different platforms without being locked into a single marketplace.
- Innovation & Competition: Open protocols encourage the entry of new players, fostering innovation and healthy competition.
- Level Playing Field: The system ensures that both small kirana shops and large retail chains have equal access and visibility.
- Cost Efficiency: Sellers can access digital commerce tools at lower costs, improving profitability.
BHADO’s Role
As a key organizing partner, BHADO is actively engaged in:
- Spreading awareness about ONDC, especially in underserved and rural markets.
- Facilitating collaboration among various ecosystem participants including sellers, buyer-side apps, logistics providers, and tech enablers.
- Conducting training sessions and onboarding drives to help MSMEs and local businesses understand the benefits of ONDC and become a part of the network.
- Building trust and capacity at the grassroots level to ensure sustained participation and benefit from digital commerce.
Through these efforts, BHADO contributes to the larger national vision of inclusive digital transformation, ensuring that “Digital India” truly reaches the last mile.
